“An easy-to-use and visually stimulating reference system of creatures and NPCs to support a smooth campaign.”
Tome of Summoning was formed by a dynamic duo of designers on a quest to make tabletop roleplaying games easier and more immersive for Game Masters (GM) and players with their original artwork and meticulously designed folded reference cards. This project was born from a passion for visual storytelling mixed with skills in graphic and industrial design and a dissatisfaction with the unwieldy nature of GM supplies and reference books.
The project began as a simple home-printed supplement for a private campaign to provide convenience for the Game Master. To streamline gameplay, the Game Master designed and printed small tented stat blocks with labeled paper minis to avoid flipping through reference books mid-combat and keep track of individual monsters.
This created more space behind the screen, reduced clutter, and improved portability, allowing the GM to focus on gameplay and storytelling. His sessions became more immersive and fun for players, especially when presenting the card artwork of an unknown creature for players to discover. The idea eventually evolved into a well designed form of card and mini, which was stored in a binder for transport and ease of use; a “tome” to “summon” your creatures from. Other players and DMs enjoyed the concept so much they began to ask for cards of their own.
Tome of Summoning hopes to provide high quality and well designed game assets to support players and game masters alike, starting with their upcoming Kickstarter for their pack of cards and paper minis, the “Tome of Summoning”.
